On every family holiday the kids need to let off some steam, right? Check out these awesome playgrounds in beautiful locations, near the beach house and scattered throughout the Margaret River region.

On the way to Margaret River…Play on the Bay, Busselton

After several hours in the car, no doubt the children will be a little restless. First stop, Busselton foreshore, you’ll find a magnificent shipwreck adventure playground (pictured above couresty margaretriver.com), the historic Busselton Jetty, cafes and kiosk for a well-earned coffee!

Inspired by Busselton's maritime history, the playground features a wrecked clipper ship beautifully crafted in timber with climbing nets, cannons, a telescope and crow's nest children can climb.

Old Kate Steam Engine, Margaret River

At the entrance to town, just before you cross the river, is Rotary Park, home to the heritage steam engine ‘Old Kate’.

A beautiful shady spot on the banks of the Margaret River, you'll also find monkey bars, slides and climbing frames all surrounded by lush forest and native birds.

Riflebutts Reserve, Prevelly

In front of the beach house on the way to the beach is a local favourite, Riflebutts, with quirky public art, an oversized man and dog sculpture by renowned artist Russell Sheridan.

There are the usual swings, slides and climbing frames with a soft fall base rather than sand, plus expanses of grass, perfect for picnicking, cricket and footy – all right next to the beach.

Flinders Bay Pirate Ship, Augusta,

Located on the banks of the Blackwood River, Augusta's new playground features a multi-level pirate ship made out of locally-sourced Jarrah with a slide, ship's wheel, a sliding pole and climbing ropes. A timber car, teepee tunnel, and mushroom picnic setting provide additional play options in the soft-fall surrounds.
