Visiting the farm gate and exploring the region is an adventure for the senses. Farmers markets pop up throughout the region on different days and there are certainly many artisan producers to visit and taste along the way.
If you are unable to get to the farm gate, here’s where the locals shop, conveniently close to the Roozen Residence :
Margaret River Farmers’ Market (town)
Every Saturday morning 8.00am to 12 noon at the Margaret River Education Campus (just south of the Margaret River townsite). Many of the local producers (in season) will have a stall. There are other markets which pop up throughout the region on different days in Vasse and Busselton, however the Margaret River markets are the closest.
The food merchants on Station Road (town)
Located one street back from the main tourist strip, Station Road is home to a select handful of fine food merchants. Here you will find Blue Ginger, a gourmet small goods and delicatessen stocked with local and international speciality foods. Next door at The Garden Basket (south west fruit and vegetable grocer) and 34 Degrees South where you are guaranteed to buy the best, freshly caught local fish.
Margaret River Gourmet Meats (town)
The local quality butcher is located on the main street of town, serving local grass fed, organic and free range meats and poultry. 120 Bussell Highway, Margaret River
IGA Supermarkets (town)
A small independent grocery store with a great selection of good quality products located on the main street in town.
The Farm House (Caves Road)
The Farm House is a family owned fresh meat butchery, smokehouse and small goods maker located near the corner of Wallcliffe and Caves Road, on your way to town.
Margaret River Venison Farm (Caves Road)
Slightly further north on Caves Raod is the Venison Farm. Straight from the paddock, Margaret River Venison has a full range of product available at their farm shop. 1053 Caves Road, Margaret River.
Olio Bello (just off Caves Road)
Artisan crafted, certified organic extra virgin olive oil, products and cafe. 36 Armstrong Rd, Cowaramup WA 6284
Millers Icecream (Cowaramup)
Millers Ice Cream tastes extra creamy because the milk they use comes straight from their own cows, milked daily on the family farm in Cowaramup. There’s also milking demonstrations and in season, you may even be able to pat the calves.
