A central location for your Margaret River accommodation is the key when hiking the Cape to Cape track.  This makes for easy access to the track each day.

Smack bang in the middle of the stunning coastal trek between Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste, The Roozen Residence self contained holiday house is on the coast in Prevelly, where the Margaret River meets the ocean.

The beach house sleeps 6 - 8 people (depending on your bedding configuration) providing a little bit of well deserved luxury at the end of each day's trek.

The Cape to Cape walk track is in the south west of Western Australia and runs 123 km* from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin through the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park.

This million dollar question depends on the season.

The majority of hikers walk the Cape to Cape from north to south, Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin, however there's a good chance the prevailing winds will be southerly, so walking south to north would mean the wind would be behind you.

Definitely worth checking the weekly forecast and planning around this.

If you're planning to walk the Cape to Cape track and love wildflowers and whale watching, the best time is during the spring months (September to November) and whale watching season (June to November).

During this time, you'll witness the stunning beauty of spring wildflowers in full bloom and spot majestic whales off the coast.

Winter is exhilarating so be prepared for wet and blistery conditions with a sprinkling of bright, sunny days. Summer can be quite hot and dry. The track provides many opportunities for a refreshing dip however you may find yourself wishing for a little shade.

For self guided hikers, presuming you have two cars, drop one car off at your end point and then drive to your starting point.

All locations on the suggested 6 day itinerary are accessible by 2WD.  There are also plenty of other sealed roads that give you access to multiple points on the Cape to Cape track.

If required, we can assist with car drop off at your end destination and transfer you to your starting point.

Track transfers must be booked in advance (POA).

Depending on your fitness level and how far you wish to trek each day, you can walk the entire track fairly comfortably in 6 - 7 days.

Be prepared, plan your walk carefully.

Before heading off on your hiking adventure be sure to let someone know your itinerary and approximate return times.

Check the Parks and Wildlife website for any potential hazards. Go to https://alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au/ and then open Cape to Cape Track.

Remember to respect nature, do not leave the track and carry out all of your rubbish.

Fees apply at some campsites, however walking on any part of the track is completely free.

Ninety percent of the year the river mouth is closed and there is a small sandy beach however each year after heavy winter rains the river breaks through the sand banks and flushes out into the ocean.

Some days the river is crossable, others you can count on getting quite wet or you might even need to take a detour.  Check maps for detour information.

HANDY TIP : A facebook group called Wooditjup Bilya ~ Margaret River (river mouth) shares pictures of the river and you can see if you're up for a crossing (or not!)
